1. Do I have to register as a User?
   1. No, there are portions of the website that do not require you to register. However, registering enables you to purchase products and sign up for Flash E-mails. Subscribers to our Research Corner are automatically registered; just enter your User Name and Password on the “sign in” page.
2. How do I register as a User?
   1. Click on the “sign in” link at the top right corner of the home page. Enter your preferred user name in the User Name space on the left side of the page, and then click the “register” button. Complete the form and you will be registered.
3. What if I forget my User Name or Password?
   1. If you forget your User Name call our Customer Service Department at 714-776-7850, or click on Contact Us at the bottom of the home page to send us an e-mail.
   2. If you forget your Password, go to the sign in page, enter your User Name and then click on “E-mail Me My Password.”
4. Can I purchase products on the website?
   1. Yes. All of Spidell’s products are available for purchase at www.caltax.com. If you are not registered as a user, you will need to register by clicking the “sign in” link at the top right corner of the home page. Registered users simply need to enter their User Name and Password and they can begin shopping.
5. What can I purchase on the website?
   1. You may purchase all of the following:

                                                             i.      Products includes Spidell publications such as our special reports and our Analysis and Explanation of California Taxes. This section also offers our subscription products such as our Online Research Package, our California Taxletter, and our Elder Client Planner.

                                                            ii.      Self-Study includes all of our home study courses. Spidell offers continuing education credit for CPAs, EAs, CTECs, and CFPs. If you click on the link for any course, the available CPE credit is listed in the course description.

                                                             iii.      Seminars include all of Spidell’s live seminars on various tax, accounting, and other financial topics.

6. What is Flash E-mail?
   1. Spidell’s Flash E-mail provides customers with brief alerts of breaking California tax news. To sign up for this free service, click here.
7. What is the Message Board?
   1. The Message Board provides tax professionals with a forum to discuss tax issues. Just click here and join in — registration is free!
8. What is Hot News and Notes?
   1. Hot News and Notes is a collection of current information that Spidell makes available to tax professionals. The information is free and it is constantly updated. Click here to see current news.
9. What is the Research Corner?
   1. Spidell’s Research Corner is a comprehensive California tax research tool. The Research Corner features all primary authority including statutes, regulations and court cases, as well as Spidell’s commentary and analysis based on our 30 years of California tax experience.
10. How do I access the Research Corner?
    1. The Research Corner is a subscription service on www.caltax.com. If you are interested in subscribing to the Research Corner please click here.
11. How do I search www.caltax.com?
    1. Click on “Click Here to Search Spidell,” at the left side of the home page. This will take you to the search page. The search allows you to search all portions of www.caltax.com. However, only paid subscribers will be able to access results in the subscription areas of the site.
12. How do I narrow my search results?
    1. If your search returns too many results, click on the “Search Within” link at the top of the search results page. This will search within your results for a more specific term.
       You may also limit your search results, by limiting the areas of the site that you choose to search. For example, you may only want to search Taxletter articles.
