The BOE has updated its guidance on the use of credit cards by fee payers and taxpayers. The BOE accepts credit card payments for taxes or fees.
A 2.3% convenience fee (minimum of $1) is imposed by the credit card processor. However, taxpayers required to pay taxes or fees electronically will incur penalties if they charge the payment to their credit card.
Types of taxes and fees that can otherwise be paid by credit card are return and fee payments, prepayments, and payments for accounts receivable, audits, applications/decals, Internet tobacco purchases, and license applications. (BOE Information Publication 159-CCG)
