FTB's secure e-mail system upgraded
Thursday, December 29, 2011

The FTB has upgraded its secure e-mail system that enables the FTB to send confidential correspondence regarding taxpayers’ business and personal income tax issues. (FTB Public Service Bulletin 11-25) As a result, current users must reregister for secure e-mail. Taxpayers that received open secure e-mail sent before the upgrade will be redirected to a Web site advising them to contact the sender. Keep in mind that the IRS prohibits the FTB from e-mailing federal tax information, regardless of whether it is encrypted.

At Spidell’s Federal/California Tax Update Seminar we will talk about:

  • What property tax is deductible
  • How the new federal Schedule D works
  • How to treat the sale of gold and silver
  • What happens if your client is selling stuff on e-Bay
  • New laws coming this year and old laws going away
