FTB notice and billing delay now permanent

The FTB will again delay — until May 29 — sending return correction and billing notices to individual taxpayers who e-file, so that they can post payments mailed on or before April 15.

In response to a request from Spidell Publishing, the FTB had agreed to extend the notice hold periods during 2009 as a pilot. However, the FTB informed Spidell that they have made this pilot permanent. (E-mail to Spidell Publishing dated December 28, 2009)

For business entities, such as corporations, that e-file and mail checks on or just prior to the return due date, the FTB will not delay mailing notices and bills.
