FTB releases bills with no explanation

The FTB discovered on May 3, 2008, that they mailed to 3,477 taxpayers Personal Income Tax Statement of Tax Due Notices that contained no explanation of what created the balance due for the tax return.

The FTB says that, while the Notices did not contain an explanation, they are in fact correct.

The FTB will be sending a letter to affected taxpayers by May 12, 2008, and will provide a special phone number that taxpayers can call to get an explanation of the adjustments made to the taxpayer’s account. The special number is (800) 262-0512.
