FTB releases electronic exempt organization list

You no longer have to call the FTB to verify the tax exempt status of an entity. The FTB now posts a list of all California tax-exempt organizations on its Web site at www.ftb.ca.gov/businesses/Exempt_organizations/Entity_list.shtml. The list is available in PDF and Excel formats and contains:

  • The entity’s name and identification number;
  • City;
  • Exempt section under R&TC §23701;
  • APE; and
  • FTB and SOS status (active or suspended).

The FTB will update the list monthly.
