New way to file a protest

After the completion of an audit, the FTB now allows you and your clients to submit a protest of Notice of Proposed Assessment by fax at (916) 364-2754.

The protest must contain the information outlined in the "protest procedure" section on the enclosure mailed with the NPA;

This fax number is a new tool to assist you and your clients in filing a protest in a timely manner. However, you may continue to submit your protest by regular mail to:
