FAQs

Do I have to register as a User?

No, there are portions of the website that do not require you to register. However, registering enables you to purchase products and sign up for free Tax eLerts.

How do I register as a User?

Click on the My Account link at the top right corner of the home page. This will bring you to the Account Login page, where you will register as a New Customer. Click on Continue under New Customer, and complete the form to register as a new user.

What if I forget my User Name or Password?

Your User Name is the E-Mail address you used to establish your account. If you can’t remember the E-Mail address you used, please call our Customer Service Department at (714) 776-7850, or click on Contact Us at the bottom of any page to send us an e-mail.

If you forget your Password, click on the My Account link at the top right corner of the home page. Under the Returning Customer heading, click on Forgotten Password. This will prompt you to enter your E-Mail address, and the site will send you a new password to access your account. You can also call our Customer Service Department at (714) 776-7850, or click on Contact Us at the bottom of any page to send us an e-mail.

Can I purchase products on the website?

Yes. All of Spidell’s products are available for purchase at www.caltax.com. If you are not registered as a user, you will need to register by clicking the My Account link at the top right corner of the home page. Registered users simply need to enter their User Name and Password and they can begin shopping.

What is the Message Board?

The Message Board provides tax professionals with a forum to discuss tax issues. Just go to the My Account page, register your account, and you can start posting.

What is Hot News and Notes?

Hot News and Notes is a collection of current information that  Spidell makes available to tax professionals. The information is free and it is constantly updated. See current news.

What is the Online Research Package?

Spidell’s Online Research Package is a comprehensive California tax research tool. The Research Corner features online access to Spidell’s California Taxletter®, Spidell’s Analysis and Explanation of California Taxes®, and all primary authority including statutes, regulations, and court cases, as well as Spidell’s commentary and analysis based on our 30 years of California tax experience. How do I access the Research Corner?

The Research Corner is a subscription service on www.caltax.com. Subscribe to the Research Corner. If you already subscribe to this service, click on Research above the banner on the Home Page.

How do I search www.caltax.com?

You can search by simply entering your search terms in the box at the top, right corner of the home page. You can perform a more advanced search by clicking on the Research link above the banner on the home page.

How do I narrow my search results?

If your search returns too many results, click on the Search Within link below the search terms box. This will search within your results for a more specific term. You may also limit your search results by limiting the areas of the site that you choose to search through our advanced search page. For example, you may only want to search Taxletter articles.
