Is California's elective disability insurance coverage deductible?

I've applied for California's elective disability insurance coverage (DEIC), which is for self-employed people. Can the premiums be considered as a business expense and deducted on Schedule C?

Kostyantyn,

No, because the DEIC payments go directly to the person who is disabled.  Disability insurance is only a business deduction if the payments can go directly to pay for business expenses in the event of disability.

Thank you, Mike
