Husband and wife are both physicians and each file a schedule C and both are eligible

for the home office deduction.  The business portion of the home is 25% and property taxes paid for the year are 10,000.   Since both are eligible to claim the home office deduction, can they each deduct 2,500 for the home office portion of property taxes for a total deduction of 5,000 between the two Schedule Cs, or must they deduct 2,500 only between the two schedules and allocate the 2,500 as they so desire?

Assuming they qualify, they would each take their individual share. If the 25% is the total for the 2 of them, that’s what they would take. If each takes $2,500 they have actually claimed 50%
