I have a client that dissolved his S-Corp in October, 2018. That means (I believe) that he has a short tax year, and his return is due January 15, 2019. He had no revenue, and a few hundred dollars in expenses.

But what year tax software to use? My 2017 Lacerte prints 1/1/2017 as the start of the fiscal year by default, and I don’t see how to change it. My 2018 Lacerte still doesn’t have final forms approved for filing, and they don’t expect them even in the January 16th release, which would be too late for filing…

    What should I do?

    Thanks!

I think your best bet would be to file for an extension.
