I’m one of 4 board members of a small, 1 person, non-profit ministry. The person who is operating the ministry has had to stop ministry activities due to the government restrictions related to Covid-19. Now that person has also been extremely limited in activities due to medical reasons, not Covid related. Can the ministry be kept open with expenses and wages being paid until the activities can be resumed? If yes, for how long? Can donors continue to contribute to the ministry while activities have been suspended?
I’m sorry to hear your organization is having a rough go right now. As long as the exempt purpose has not changed and all reporting requirements have been met the organization may continue to exist until such time it has been dissolved according to the Attorney General’s guidelines or is out of compliance.
