Individuals will now have until April 30, 2020, to sign up for health care coverage through Covered California. Taxpayers who are currently without health insurance and who sign up by March 31 will avoid having the new California individual health care mandate penalty imposed. (To calculate the amount of the potential penalty, see: www.ftb.ca.gov/file/personal/filing-situations/healthcare/estimator/)
Enrollment is available to both currently uninsured California residents as well as those who have private insurance but would like to receive the available federal and/or state subsidies by signing up for insurance through Covered California.
