The EDD has released the California personal income tax withholding schedules for 2019.
California provides two methods for determining the amount to be withheld from wages and salaries for state personal income tax:
- The wage bracket table method applies to salaries and wages less than $1 million, and provides a quick and easy way to select the appropriate withholding amount, based on the payroll period, filing status, and number of withholding allowances (regular and additional) if claimed; or
- The exact calculation method provides an exact amount of tax to withhold and may be used to calculate withholding amounts either manually or by computer.
