The FTB updated its COVID-19 FAQ webpage to let taxpayers and tax professionals know that for paper returns and other documents that must be signed with an original signature by the taxpayer and/or their tax representative, the FTB will not require an original signature through December 31, 2021, except for POAs.
Previously, the FTB was only accepting other types of signatures on paper returns or other documents that need to be filed with an original signature through June 30, 2021.
For these returns and documents, the FTB will accept photographed or digital copies of required signatures. Taxpayers or their tax professionals can also upload a document with a signature into MyFTB. (Only PDF and Excel documents are currently accepted.)
