It’s time to renew your PTIN

The IRS has begun accepting Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) renewals for 2023. Don’t forget to renew your PTIN before the December 31, 2022, deadline. This year’s renewal fee is $30.75 (decreased from the $35.95 fee for 2022).

To renew your PTIN online:

  • Go to www.irs.gov/taxpros;
  • Select the “Renew or Register” button;
  • Select “Log in” and enter your user ID and password to access the online PTIN system; and
  • Select the “Renew my PTIN” button from the main menu.

Remember to also update your license expiration date (e.g., CPA license) if the license was renewed during 2022.

This year, tax preparers can also renew/register for PTINs for multiple calendar years at one time.
