No disaster relief for FTB installment payments

Although the state of California has conformed to the disaster-related filing and payment postponements granted by the IRS for most California taxpayers, the FTB has informed Spidell that that they are not automatically suspending installment agreement payments for these taxpayers. This is different than the IRS procedures, which automatically suspend installment agreement payments due during disaster relief periods. (

This means that individuals and businesses that are currently making payments on an installment agreement must continue making their installment payments, unless they are experiencing a hardship due to the disaster. Taxpayers who are experiencing a hardship may contact the FTB to request to skip an installment payment. Go to for more information on making these requests.
