Relief for businesses in counties affected by Hurricane Hilary

As a result of an emergency proclamation issued by Governor Gavin Newsom for taxpayers in Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Tulare, and Ventura counties affected by Hurricane Hilary may request: 

  • Extensions to file returns: An extension of up to three months to file and pay taxes or fees is available for most CDTFA-administered programs; 
  • Relief from interest and penalties: Relief from interest and penalties may be provided to people unable to file their returns and pay taxes and fees when they are due; 
  • Copies of CDTFA records: Taxpayers who need to obtain copies of CDTFA tax records can receive replacements free of charge; and 
  • Updated account information: This may include changing an address, opening or closing a business location, or obtaining a copy of a seller’s permit or license.

EDD

Employers in Fresno, Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Tulare, and Ventura counties directly affected by Hurricane Hilary may request up to a 60-day extension of time from the EDD to file their state payroll reports and/or deposit payroll taxes without penalty or interest. (UIC §1111.5) 

A written request for extension must be received within 60 days from the original delinquent date of the payment or return.
