Configuring downloaded PDF files to open in Adobe Reader

If you are having trouble downloading, viewing, or printing our newsletter, try this solution. The PDF file will be downloaded and will open in Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat) rather than in the default browser.

1.       Open Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat, depending on which one is installed).

2.       Click on “Edit” then click on “Preferences”

3.       Under “Categories” click on “Internet

4.       Uncheck “Display PDF in browser” under “Web Browser Options.  Click “OK.”

5.       Close Adobe Reader/Acrobat and the default web browser (Internet Explorer).

When links to PDF documents are clicked, the PDF file will be downloaded and will open in Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat) rather than in the default browser. (Note: This affects ALL PDFs)

The PDF file can be printed or saved to your computer from the File menu.

To change back to opening downloaded PDF files in the browser, re-check “Display PDF in browser.”
