§199A (Complex and packs a punch: caffeine PLUS alcohol)

Ingredients

3 T cognac

2 T Kahlua

2 T espresso

1 T simple syrup

Directions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add cognac, Kahlua, espresso, and simple syrup. Shaking the ingredients creates a "crema" on top when strained into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with orange twist and coffee beans.


QBI (Quit before intoxication)

Ingredients

1 part peach schnapps

1 part vodka

Top with orange juice

Top with cranberry juice

Dash of lemon juice

Directions

Pour over ice and serve with an orange wedge


Crack and pack (Crack open the bubbly and funnel it into an icy highball glass)

Ingredients

0.5 oz. lemon juice

0.5 oz. pomegranate juice

2 drops rose water

0.5 oz. simple syrup

1 oz. gin

3 oz. cava (Spanish sparkling wine)

Directions

Place in a highball glass with large ice cubes and stir to combine. Serve with rose petals and an orange twist.

Ingredients

Makes 10 drinks — have a party

20 oz. blanco tequila (El Tesoro)

7.5 oz. Cointreau

7.5 oz. lime juice

2.5 oz. simple syrup

Directions

Combine in large container. Can be stored for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator. Rim glasses with salt, sugar, or combination of both.

(Note: Use the best tequila you can get that says "100% de agave" on the label. If that isn't there, up to 49% of the tequila is fermented cane sugar. Also, taste test the limes and adjust if they are too assertively sour.)


Nonrecognition transaction (Earthy and fragrant mocktail)

Ingredients

1 oz. juniper syrup

.75 oz. lime juice

High quality tonic (Seagram's or Canada Dry)

Directions

Shake the juniper syrup and lime juice with ice and strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with tonic and garnish with lime wheel.

(Juniper syrup: Muddle 3 T juniper berries in a saucepan until they break open. Add the peel of 1 orange, 3 cardamom pods, and 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat until simmering. Add 1 cup sugar and keep the mixture simmering for 20 minutes. Store in heatproof container in refrigerator overnight. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. Can be stored in covered container for up to one month.)
