Marg-OH-RITA (Lynn Freer's inspiration — cheers to Ohio's Regional Income Tax Agency)

Makes 10 drinks — have a party

20 oz. blanco tequila (El Tesoro)

7.5 oz. Cointreau

7.5 oz. lime juice

2.5 oz. simple syrup

Combine in large container. Can be stored for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator. Rim glasses with salt, sugar, or combination of both.

(Note: Use the best tequila you can get that says "100% de agave" on the label. If that isn't there, up to 49% of the tequila is fermented cane sugar. Also, taste test the limes and adjust if they are too assertively sour.)

Nonrecognition transaction (Earthy and fragrant mocktail)

1 oz. juniper syrup

.75 oz. lime juice

High quality tonic (Seagram's or Canada Dry)

Shake the juniper syrup and lime juice with ice and strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with tonic and garnish with lime wheel.

(Juniper syrup: Muddle 3 T juniper berries in a saucepan until they break open. Add the peel of 1 orange, 3 cardamom pods, and 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat until simmering. Add 1 cup sugar and keep the mixture simmering for 20 minutes. Store in heatproof container in refrigerator overnight. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. Can be stored in covered container for up to one month.)
